Happy September dear ones
Eddie and I are in our last few days here in New York. It’s been wonderful to spend time with our teacher in person after a year away. It’s so nurturing to be with like-minded souls and to be back with a community of yogis that feels like a home from home.
Being here has reinforced my deep desire to continue to build our yoga community in Banbury. And, even though we do not have the physical studio space we once did, I’m excited to start creating new opportunities for us to come together again. I have plans for brunches, a Christmas get-together and monthly workshops. So, stay tuned for more news on those coming soon.
In the meantime, we have a new timetable starting next week. If you’ve been away for a while and have been thinking of rejoining us, this is the perfect time to start back with your practice. We have classes for every level taking place at a new studio space in White Lion Walk and at our home Studio on West Bar Street. At the moment all classes will be offered as courses since we are using small spaces and need your help and commitment to build up the timetable again. Over the next 6-12 weeks we are hoping to build out a timetable that will provide classes most days of the week. You can find the Autumn timetable below.
We’ve chosen the theme of Liminal Spaces to explore over the next six weeks together. Autumn is a season of change and transition. The end of summer and harvest marks the release of leaves from trees, cooler weather (traditionally!) and planning ahead for the winter months. Change often means instability. In ayurveda, autumn is associated with the air element, in the Chinese system with metal. Both elements are considered cool and dry, and associated with the lungs. In Chinese medicine the lungs are associated with grief. This is a time for release, a time to feel the emotions that run deep, and to process grief that may have been stored for a long time. This season is also the perfect time to reflect on how we process and experience change in general in our own lives. How does it feel when there’s a significant change? How do we process endings? Are we able to complete things? Being in the process of change is core to our human experience. Whether we like it or not we are all in a constant process of transition and that leaves us often standing in liminal spaces betwixt and between fixed states of being. Getting comfortable with the unknown is an important growth area for us all.
