The sun is finally out and I’ve taken the opportunity this week to spend a lot of time bathing in it in the garden…even if much of it has been glued to my laptop or revision notes!
This Wednesday marked the end of another chapter for me. I finished assignments and exams for my masters degree, and whilst I still have my dissertation to write, it feels like the course is coming to an end and I have a teeny bit more space to breathe. The result is a great sense of relief in my mind and in my body too. My tight hip flexors and crabby gut seem to have breathed a sigh of relief, and I’ve been able to start prioritising some other important things in my life. The appearance of the sun has brought a sense of renewal and both a literal and metaphorical warmth into my days.
The sun is a metaphor for the father, the guru, and of course represents light and fire. When we shine light into the dark corners of our minds and our hearts, everything feels more manageable and less scary. Like a great guardian, mentor or guru, the sun illuminates and clarifies. Often it’s the unknown that leaves us imagining monsters in the closet or under the bed. Yoga provides tools to help us stoke our inner light to shine the way not only for ourselves but for others too.
My next block of Saturday morning Dharma classes starts next week and are up to book. We will be focusing on harnessing the light, stoking the fire and leading the way with a particular focus on manipura chakra, our personal power and the ego. There are a couple of weeks off in the middle this time around but you can book all classes in the block or only the ones you can make and get them in your diary ahead of time.
I’ve also made available three Dharma Yoga Masterclasses on Sundays between now and the end of July. The first one is next Sunday 28 May. We also have a special Friday evening class in June and a new Thursday evening class starting with Eddie in July. More information on all of these below.
Sending lots of love and Om. I hope to see you soon.
Warm wishes
Ayesha
